The show was nearing its end, and the hat was
beginning to make its rounds. The hat, as always, was accompanied by Stan,
who believed he put on a rather poor performance that night. Too much
pressure, Stan thought. Surely, it could not have been that
bad. Stan returned to the stage and inspected the contents of the hat.
Much to his dismay, the selection of items was scarce: a nickel, a penny
here, a dime there, and a copious amount of trash. Stan, thoroughly disillusioned,
pocketed the change and emptied the trash. He turned to the crowd and said,
"No trash, please."
After signing autographs and taking pictures
with a few adoring fans, Sean and Stan headed for the lobby in hopes of
obtaining enough money to finance their next meal from Hong Kong Restaurant.
Monetary rewards for their performance were slim; however, the events that
transpired next were quite encouraging. After signing an autograph, Sean
and Stan looked up to be greeted with the simultaneous flash of half a
dozen cameras.
Whoever was behind those cameras that night,
Stan, on behalf of the greatest band ever, would like to thank those people
for creating for us one of the most memorable MSA experiences and giving
us inspiration to go for that Thursday night show. Thank you to all who
attended our shows, shouted our praises, and supported us, financially
and emotionally. You guys are fantastic.
